I highly recommend Boyne Valley Tours as a wonderful way to see many historical sites of the Boyne Valley. Michael is a fabulous and extremely knowledgeable tour guide.
He picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel in Dublin.
We spent our morning at Newgrange and Knowth, followed by a lovely lunch.
Knowth and Newgrange are Neolithic passage timbs and ancient monuments of the World Heritage Site of Brú na Bóinne located 8.4 km west of Drogheda in Ireland's valley of the River Boyne.
In the afternoon we saw the Hill of Slane, Slane Castle, Monasterboice Tower and High Crosses, Fourknocks, finishing with the magical site of the Hill of Tara.
It was a lovely and informative day that Michael created for us.
Learning moments throughout history I traveled to Ireland with my son. We both wanted to see the megalithic structures along with other historic sites. Michael was a an incredible host and provided so much history and lore to the sites we visited. We learned about the abbeys, Celtic crosses, castles, passage tombs and many other topics. We started the day promptly at 08:00 and finished with an amazing sunset on the Hill of Tara.
Thank you Michael for the learning moments and enjoyable day spent making memories.

Great tour and tour guide We went on two tours with Boyne Valley Tour. The Ancient Boyne Valley Guided tour and the Wicklow tour. Love both private tours. Michael is a great tour guide. He is knowlegeable and makes Ireland come alive. Would do this tour again. No complaints.
“One of our best days in Ireland – Thanks Michael!” We really enjoyed the trip through the countryside on the way to Newgrange and Dowth – the UNICEF sight is spectacular. Other stops included Hill of Slane (and history related thereto), Slane Castle, Mainistir Bhuithe area (especially enjoyed the old stone Celtic crosses and the Monasterboice Round Tower), Mellifont Abbey ruins, and our visit to the Battle of Boyne visitor center and gardens. He even made a quick stop at St. Peters Church in Drogheda to see a very interesting relic of Saint Oliver Plunkett.
Michael Fox provided great historical insights everywhere we went – enjoyable, very knowledgeable, and full of personal experiences in area (he and family live there) – willing to answer all our questions and tailor the day to fit our interests (history, old churches and the Irish country side) – in all, one of our best days in Ireland.
“The Best!!” I booked a day with Michael Fox, Boyne Valley Tours, to visit Newgrange and the Boyne Valley. It was the best day in Ireland and I feel we got more than our money’s worth. The excursion went smoothly and easily, from pick-up at our Dublin hotel to return. Michael, who is very easy to be with, oriented us for our visit of the Passage Tombs and showed us the myriad places of interest in the Boyne Valley. Everyone we met seemed to know and hold Michael in high regard. My husband and I feel very lucky to have found Michael’s Boyne Valley Tours and booked him for a day. I doubt anyone knows the Boyne Valley better than Michael. We recommend him highly!
